Gina Rose Halpern
Gina Rose Halpern: Founder of the Chaplaincy Institute for Arts and Interfaith Ministries, Berkeley, CA.

Gina Rose Halpern was born in Philadelphia, PA., and makes her home in the Bay Area of Northern California. She received her BFA, in Ceramics from Rhode Island School of Design. Her graduate work includes Cranbrook Academy of Art. MI. Her MA. was completed at Holy Names University in Oakland, CA. with a focus on Creativity, Culture and Spirituality. She finished her Doctorate of Ministry Degree while on faculty for Matthew Fox and The University of Creation Spirituality (now Wisdom University.)
Her work has been inspired, by her global travels, and artists from every culture, who have created beauty in the service of the Divine- known by many names. Her art celebrates the mysteries of creation as well as the depths of the soul, psyche, and dreams. In addition, her work has been influenced by her family of artists. Her first teacher, was her father Fred Halpern, his sister, artist Sylvia Barkan, and her grandfather folk artist, Nathan Halpern.

She is recipient of “The Chrysler Award.” Gina Rose continues to show her work including exhibitions at Marin General Hospital and California Pacific Medical Center- The Institute for Health & Healing. She has been an administrator for the Antioch College Buddhist Studies Program in India, and led educational groups for ten years in India and Nepal. Gina Rose Halpern has been on the board of the Society for Arts in Healthcare, and designed healthcare facilities, including work for The Children's Hospital in San Diego. In 1995 she toured Russian pediatric hospitals as a clown with Patch Adams, MD and in Gesundheight Institute. She has been on the faculty of John F. Kennedy University and Naropa, Oakland-The University of Creation Spirituality (now Wisdom University).

Her dedicated mission has been serve through creativity, education and beauty to unite Art, Spirituality and Healing. Her art appears on covers for the music of recording artist Michael Stillwater. Her illuminations illustrate “An angel Called My Name, ” by Jyoti, convener for The International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. She is the author and illustrator of the bilingual children's book "Where is Tibet?" as well as being author and illustrator of "To Heal the Broken Heart," She is a know inspirational speaker.

Gina Rose Halpern is and ordained Interfaith Minister, and a Peace Chaplain for the Peace Abbey of Sherborn MA.
